MANILA, PHILIPPINES [February 20, 2025] – In an age where digital content shapes how people learn and eat, the need for accurate, engaging, and science-based nutrition communication has never been more urgent. To address this, Nestlé Philippines, in partnership with the Nutritionist-Dietitians’ Association of the Philippines (NDAP), conducted the 2024 Nutrition Masterclass Interschool Competition—a platform that empowers future nutrition professionals to advocate for healthier Filipino homes through recipe development and digital storytelling.
In its third year, the competition invited Nutrition and Dietetics students from across the country to create original, nutrition-forward recipes and produce 90 seconds recipe videos that highlight the goodness of homemade cooking in bringing tasty and balanced meals to Filipino families.
The challenge encouraged students to apply their academic knowledge to real-world contexts—developing dishes that are not only delicious and culturally relevant, but also practical for home preparation.
The winners were announced during the NDAP 70th Annual Convention held on February 20, 2025, at Manila Hotel.
University of Mindanao emerged as the champion with their innovative dish, Mala Cream Dimsum—a Filipino fusion recipe made with bangus and singkamas, showcasing how local, affordable ingredients can be transformed into a flavorful and balanced meal. The dish stood out for its originality, nutritional integrity, and alignment with the competition’s advocacy.
Also recognized were Manila Tytana Colleges and UP Los Baños, whose entries demonstrated strong recipe development skills, creativity, and a deep understanding of how homemade meals can support better nutrition outcomes for Filipino families.
Entries were judged by a panel of experts from NDAP and Nestlé Philippines, using criteria such as taste and nutritional balance, visual appeal, originality and how well the video was organized. All winning teams received cash prizes and certificates in recognition of their work.
Through the Nutrition Masterclass platform, Nestlé Philippines and NDAP continue to support the next generation of nutrition leaders—encouraging them to use digital tools and culinary creativity to promote healthier, more sustainable eating habits at home.
